Some people may be talking about hypnic jerks (myoclons). This is the sensation that you get when you dream that you are falling from a building, and you wake yourself up out of a dream state. ... Guys, this is NOT what I am talking about. I am talking about something that is related to breathing, and involves me experiencing a sensation like a wave of electricity followed by a gasp. My lungs suddenly inflating. It happens again and again all night long. Yes, for me it is like a spasm. My body twitches during these events. I agree, it is like the feeling of being jump-started. Anyways, I just want to differentiate between hypnic jerks (which this is not), and this shock/jolt like sensation which is symptomatic of sleep apnea.
