What is the differnce

Posted by ppenland on June 15, 2007 at 20:38:13:

I have been using a CPAP for several yrs now and just recently had another study done after finaly convincing my DR'S that I needed to have another one done because I wasn't sleeping as well as I had been. I was waking up several times each night and did not feel rested. I had also developed restless legs which I am told that sometimes can go along with sleep apena.Meds does help with that. Today I get a call from the nurse that the Drs has review my readings from the study and has put in a order for a BIPAP for me to use instead of my CPAP. Now I understand from reading that bipap will deliver 2 different types of presure when needed where as the cpap is just one type of presure. I haven't been able to sit down and talk with no one about this yet and I am kinda nervous as to what this means. Could this be a good thing? Could this mean my apena has improved some or worsen? What exactly is the differents in these machine? Is bipap a better machine then cpap or what? I have had no trouble with my cpap using a nasal mask. I have use it faithly form the the very first night and had no trouble getting use to it like some did which I am thankful for even though at times it did have it's drawback. I am just nervous about trying something differnt and would like some feedback from some one who has been there. Thanks
