ResMed recalls 300,000+ S8 devices

Posted by Marco Polo on June 19, 2007 at 18:09:05:

Hello All,

Today, I found out through my DME that ResMed has a recall on certain serial numbers in the S8 series of XPAP's. This includes the S8 Compact, S8 Escape, S8 Elite, and the S8 AutoSet Vantage models. If you have one of these models, please read the following.

The link below takes you to the Global Press Release announcing the issue with the recalled flow generators. Click on the link at the top of the page for the specific Global News Release and the corresponding serial numbers that are affected.

BE AWARE!!! As I was advised, one does not have to immediately cease using their unit if it falls into the range of serial numbers listed on the site in the PDF file for recall. If you have not been contacted by your supplier, you should be soon OR contact them! Please be aware that even if your unit is no longer being used, you are REQUIRED to have it replaced. Also be aware that this is a voluntary recall by the manufacturer.

FWIW Check the site; check the PDF; check to see if your S8 unit is in the range of serial numbers being recalled; take appropriate action to have it replaced if yours is in the recall. And for God's sake--don't panic!!!

Sleep Well and Prosper!
