I completely understand because this is something I have dealt with for years. I am currently on Lamictal, which is a mood stabilizer and it helps me to be less irritable.

Your boyfriend definitely needs his apnea addressed because it is ruining his life. Hopefully he will be able to comply with his CPAP. It will take a while for him to get used to it, so make sure you are supportive and encourage him to continue with it.

If he can't tolerate the CPAP, he may want to look into a BiPAP machine (see post below).

There are also multiple surgical options. I suggest reading the "non-cpap options" forum.

There are surgeons who specialize in sleep disorders at Stanford University Medical Center. Many of us have traveled there for help. Google "sleep surgery in palo alto, california." There are a handful of top specialists in the world located there.
