Is the machine still running when you discover the mask is off? Maybe you're taking the mask off, and turning the machine off at the same time, and don't know it??? As far as knowing whether the auto-adjust action is occuring for apneas, you would need to send in your smart card to your DME and have them read the pressure events, or obtain the s/w yourself to know if it is adjusting.
