For mask removing problems, I generally recommend always following a specific sequence. That is to power up the machine and put on the mask while sitting up or standing up, and not removing the mask or powering off the machine (in the morning or for potty trips) until sitting up or standing up.

Because of the potential of turning off the machine and disabling the alarm pointed out here, I get I should amend that sequence. The power should do on before the mask goes on, and the mask should come off before the machine is powered off.
