post first night

Posted by always sleeping on June 27, 2007 at 10:45:32:

Hi folks,

I just completed my first night with my new, properly calibrated CPAP machine and slept with it in place for about 9 hours or so, comfortable and soundly. I don't think I had any of the REM rebound, as I don't recall any dreams.

When I first ut the make on and set the machine, I intitally planned to just take a 1 hour nap, then to get back up to see how I felt. But after an hour, I was so relaxed, I decided to stay asleep. I woke again abut midnight to get a sip of water and turn over, then once more at 3am to ue the bathroom. No problem falling back to sleep.

When my DH woke me this AM around 6, I felt pretty good. Clear, focused and in general OK. Then, I took my daily medications - 2.5 mg Valium (muscle spasm) 2 - #4 Tylenol Codeine for fibro pain, and my Tenormin 10omg blood presure meds.

Now, I feel like I could go right back to bed and sleep all day. In fact I did, around 8:00 to about 9:15 or so, then got up and am still very sleepy and can't focus.

Since my doctor has given me control over when I do or don't take the valium or the codeine, I think I may skip the Valium (unless I really need it, maybe take 5mg at bedtime) and just take the codeine 1 at a time, unless the pain is unbearable. My pain is from fibromyalgia, stemming from the lack of sleep.

Is this normal? Shouldn't I be up and awake and ready to kick butt on the whole world? Instread, I still feel like my usual zombie self right now. Weird.

Thanks,

AS
