Waking oxygen blood gas is supposed to be above 95%; sleeping blood oxygen is 90-95%. If it falls below 90%, it is cause for concern, but I don't think sleep apnea is the only cause of decreased blood oxygen. Poor respiratory function caused by sarcoidosis and emphysema, for example, is reason to prescribe supplemental oxygen.
