Why would I want to breathe more CO2?

The mask I have is a Respironics Comfort Gel with a whisper swivel mask valve. I suspected from the beginning that it caused me to re-breathe air but no one (doctor, tech at the equipment supplier, family members who have apnea and more experience with these things) believed me.

Over the weekend I tried my husband's mask (he used an old one). It is full face (which I don't like- it made me clench my teeth and they hurt in the morning) but it vents much more air. I slept with it Saturday night. Sunday I felt really good. I can't remember feeling that "untired" ever in my adult life. So I am going to go get another mask tomorrow. My doc wrote a prescription for "nasal mask of patients choice" and the supplier is going to let me try some different ones on. Does anyone here have any favorites that vent exhaled air really well?
