Even if you were diagnosed with sleep apnea again, it sounds like a lot of your "shortness of breath" symptoms during the day are anxiety related. Anxiety and depression can both be cause by sleep apnea.

If you're on a cpap and continue to have shortness of breath during the day with hyperventilation, I would talk to your doctor (or psychiatrist) about anxiety.

The only way mixed apnea can be diagnosed is during a sleep study. They will alleviate all of your obstructive events with a cpap and then determine if you're still having apneic events (that would be central).

I've never heard of shortness of breath/hyperventilating during the day as a symptom of sleep apnea. This would only happen during sleep when you wake yourself up.
