Sleep is worse after 6 wks on CPAP

Posted by Frappels on August 08, 2007 at 12:06:06:

I had a 80 times per minute rating of Sleep Apnea, & my Dr. perscribed an automatic-adjustable sleep machine with humidifier. I also have a very soft & comfortable full face mask. I have been using it now for 6 weeks. The problem is that my sleep is now worse that before. Even when wearing ear plugs, I wake up constantly hearing the air, the machine, or the occassional air leaks. I was given 3 sizes of masks with my machine, but it seems that my head is a little larger than the medium size, and smaller than the large size. The medium size seems to work best for the air leaks. When I get up in the morning I now have bags under my eyes, and "crusty's" in the corners of my eyes. It takes me at least a half of day before I look and feel awake. My question is. . . Will my sleep improve? Is there something I can do so I will sleep better with the CPAP. I was feeling better and getting more sleep before I got the CPAP.

Please Advise.
Paul
