Air conditioner affecting SA?

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 5 years ago and have been a loyal CPAP user since that time. In Oct 2006 I had a tonsillectomy, and subsequent sleep study put me in the category of Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome rather than sleep apnea. With my doctor's approval, I have been experimenting with sleep with and without the CPAP. (Am also hoping to try an oral appliance soon).

It seems that whether I sleep WITH the CPAP OR with nothing, I am having some problems. I wake up around 3-5 a.m. with tightness in my chest and difficulty taking a deep breath. I usually have to sit up for a few minutes to an hour and do some deep breathing, then go back to sleep and get up at a more reasonable hour with the same symptoms.

In the last couple of days it has been cooler where I live, so I've been sleeping without the air conditioner on. Suddenly, my symptoms are decreased significantly. (Not gone, but much better.) Has anyone else noticed symptoms worsening when in air conditioning or getting better when not? Any other experiences you might have had would be great for me to know about!

Thanks.
