One prescription nasal spray that has been really helpful to me (best next to Afrin) is Atrovent (ipratropium bromide).

Also, I recently had surgery on my turbinates (mind you, I've had four other nasal surgeries to breathe better). This one finally worked! The surgery was "powered submucosal inferior turbinate reduction." I think it was a thirty minute procedure, no pain and it was out patient. Totally worth it. Basically, uses a "roto-rooter" to go inside and reduce your inflamed turbinates (from the inside), preserving the important tissue on the outside that needs to be there to warm and moisten the air.
