test report help on position / REM

Posted by tick on September 12, 2007 at 20:56:08:

Just been studing my resultes. My primary doctor retired and have not found a new one. My AHI was 22.2 on my back and 0 while on my side. Before someone sells me an expensive machine people have trouble using, should I just learn to sleep on my side? The sleep lab had a fancy foam mattress which I think let me sleep more on my side than ussual.

Second thing was it noted a lack of REM sleep (9.7 %) of time. I have not found much mention of REM on this form?
Is this bad?

Lastly is this bad enought that I would see improvements in my well being ?

SpO2 awake 91%
SpO2 sleep 89%
SpO2 desaturation ( >4%) 137 times
SpO2 desaturation 7%
SpO2 lowest 72%

Obstructive apnea 29.3/hr (on back)
Obstructive apnea 1.6 /hr on side
Obstructive apnea 3.3 /hr while in REM

Stage 1 9.5%
stage 2 61.2%
Delta 19.6 %
REM 9.7%

Thanks
