I am using CPAP and found out at the center that did my sleep study "loaned" me a battery powered unit to take home and let my wife use it to do a home screen. It measured the number of "stop breathing" incidents per hour. The best part is that the use of the portable battery powered unit was free. She did indicate the presence of mild apnea.
