If you have apnea, no one is trying to "sell" you a machine...you actually need it -- and most insurances will cover it.

If you don't want to get a CPAP you can try sewing a pocket on the back of your shirt to put a tennis ball in. This will prevent you from sleeping on your back.

If your apneas are primarily on your back, it sounds like you either have a floppy tongue that falls back when you sleep --- or you could lose some weight.

It has been found that even a 10% decrease in weight can help apnea. If you have extra pounds (or if you are definitely overweight) you want to seriously address your weight and lose as much as possible. It should help your situation...I know it's hard when you're tired. I know many people who have had success with Weight Watchers.
