Posted by todd on September 24, 2007 at 15:24:14:I recently bought a Respironics M series autopap and have been quite happy with the machine. But I have a big gripe about the smart card. They've stopped allowing patients to buy the readers and software. This has made it so that I can't get the history off the machine at all. My doctor doesn't have a reader or know how to do it. She sent me to the Sleep Center that does the sleep studies. They don't have the ability (or the incentive, as far as I can tell) to do it for me either.
I've got the doctor saying to get it from the sleep study center and the center saying that I have to get it from the doctor. Then both of them say I should talk to the DME supplier I bought the machine from who says they can't sell it to me, because Respironics won't let them. I searched around and can't find a reader or software for my machine. (Some have suggested I still might be able to find it, even though Respironics stopped selling it.)
The result of all of this is that I have a smart card that isn't very smart or useful.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
