I've been using a SNAPP for years and think it's great. Mine just has a rubber or plastic sleeve that snugly slides over the hard plastic end of the hose. It has always worked fine. I've never seen the click-on attachment you describe. Maybe the end of your hose and the place where you attach the SNAPP just aren't the right size for each other - for some reason. Is you hose a standard size?
