There are probably as many triggers as there are individuals. However, anything that deepens breathing such as a late meal or alcohol would tend to make apnea worse. My feeling is that chronic pain aggravates the situation, or at least perpetuates the cycle of poor nights and EDS. Sometimes I just seem to have good or bad days that don't seem to have any relation to anything concrete. Maybe it is biorythm related as well. One day about two years ago, at a time when I was really struggling, I woke to feel my whole body glowing. I felt like I was in heaven all day. And for the life of me I don't know why. I remember walking in a park at lunch that day and I felt in perfect equinimity. However, the next day I was back to feeling heavy EDS and struggliing to get through the day. So maybe some things are beyond our control?
