Dentist visit and CPAP

Posted by Alamo Joe on October 04, 2007 at 11:26:56:

Someone may have already reported this, but I think it is worth repeating.

After cleaning and checking my teeth the dental hygienist who is aware that I have sleep apnea asked, "Do you use one of those machines?" I responded "Yes".

"Do you wake up with a dry mouth"? I responded "Yes".

"A dry mouth tends to cause more cavities. I will give you a sample of a mouth wash that helps a great deal".

I have had all the usual surgeries, and this year I felt that I might be able to improve my sleep with CPAP. My compliance is not something I wish to talk about, but I felt that the hygeinst's comments should be passed along.
