The reason OSA can cause weight gain is because lack of sleep can increase your appetite. Many times, fatigue is misinterpreted as hunger.
Also, because of extreme fatigue with OSA, it is difficult to exercise.
This makes the situation especially difficult if someone is trying to lose weight.
I have also read a few articles about lack of sleep and slowing your metabolism.
