Posted by dpeel on October 22, 2007 at 04:35:14:This is my first post. I was recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and have been trying to adjust to using my CPAP machine. I am mostly a side sleeper and was given a Respironics ComfortGel Mask. I ordered and received a ComfortLite2 Nasal mask as it appeared to be better for a side sleeper. It came with nasal pillows and simple cushions. I tried the nasal pillows and after a few hours had to take it off as it hurt and made my nose sore. I went back to using the Respironics ComfortGel.
I had a mustache for over 30 years and decided to shave it off as making the CPAP work is more important to me. The ComfortGel is now sealing better, but still looses a good seal when I am on my side. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good mask for a side sleeper. I might mention that I was told that the pressure I needed was 15 which from what I've read on these posts is pretty high and might be part of the problem with the ComfortLite2 not working for me. It was extremely hard to exhale using the nasal pillows and had to tighten it up quite a bit to get is to seal.
