diabetes mellitus morning sugar

To the people concerned about diabetes type 2 having morning high sugar, I have type 2 and read quite a bit a few years ago when first diagnosed. It is not uncommon to have a rise in blood sugar in the morning it was explained to me as preparing you for the energy required for the day. There is a name for it, I cant find the reference am looking for it. It is, anyways, not considered abnormal or needing attention.
I am taking metformin, still have quite high am readings.
