18 is high, but I think some individuals need pressures above 20. As you say, not every machine will accommodate that.

Be aware that you may not need this high pressure all the time. You may be in a high pressure phase that drops back down. The smart card may be pegging at 17 and not necessarily need to go much above that, but the sleep lab is giving that leeway. In other words, don't panic; wait and see how it goes.
