I have had some serious gum issues and had teeth removed in the past two years, but in my case this is almost certainly associated with my type 2 diabetes which is commonly associated with gum problems. If I had pain I wouldn't be changing the mask, I'd be changing the dentist because the pain is an indication of ongoing infection which you shouldn't be living with.There is a large international study going on to link or disprove the relationship between gum disease and heart disease and several years in it seems the link is definitive. Don't mean to alarm you but its a lot simpler to treat the gums than the heart...that was why I opted for tooth removal and bridges.
