Need help and advice please

Greeting All -
I am a middle aged male mildy overweight and believe I have been suffering with sleep apnea for a very long time. I have most of the classic symptoms and cant even remember when I have ever had a truely good nights sleep. I dont have medical insurance because I work on my own and have a very limited income and tried to talk with my doctor about it but he said I had to take a sleep test which I both cant afford and their is no way I would be able to sleep anywhere else but my home..their is just no way. Is their anything I can do to get myself evaluated and then if I do have Apnea some help?... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....Thank You
