I didn't use the words 'weight loss' in my post. Please go back and read my post before saying that. CPAP doesn't train the body to keep the airway open after any length of time and only makes the condition worse if the person continues to ignor the condition of their airway closing. How many who get on CPAP need pressure increases down the road??? Next to everyone. CPAP is clearly an alternative and a form of treating the problem. Many who close their eyes to what sleep apnea really is are slowly falling backwards. People who are completely healthy can have an apnea or two during sleep and not have sleep apnea. The disorder is defined as AHI of above 5 per hour by some in the medical field, some say higher than 15. So the truth is that the human body can have an apnea or two during a night's sleep and this is completely normal. The idea than, in those who have a whole lot more apneas, is to get the RATE DOWN. You get the rate down by eating healthy nutritious foods and exercising before going to CPAP or before surgery. If you have clinically defined sleep apnea and can't improve your diet and exercise, then the ride on CPAP leads to an eventual dead end. About the diet I suggest, Beef and milk cattle are the most manulipulated animals on the planet. Time to see that as a public health problem and something people should think twice about eating. We take school children to farms on field trips and have them pick apples but do we take school children to slaughter houses and show them where hamburger comes from? We're secretly ashamed of our dependence on the cow and cover it up by saying it's tradition that we consume so much of it. This is the animal that has trouble sleeping on it's back, right?
I am suggesting no brand names of vegetables or names of grocery stores where vegetables and fruits can be purchased. Just that you eat these things. Wheat and wheat flour products are bad because they come with butter, cheese, milk, or yeast. Caffine is bad for sleep in most people. Should try a better diet of only fruits and vegies for 90 days straight and your sleep will improve. When you get to the 90 day point, things will be more clear. During this time, people with sleep apnea should try to exercise at least 20 minutes a day, three times a week. This exercise guideline has been out there forever.
