You don't follow the forum if you're asking 'Why are you on the forum'? I've been posting on the forum for years, helping people with CPAP problems (search on my screen name). The truth of the matter is that CPAP in my own experience is not a cure or a resolution of disordered sleep breathing, it is only a man-made device that helps out extending a person's life, as many who get in such a rut with their sleep breathing that no treatment at all will surely lead to high blood pressure, stroke, or other illness, not to mention bankruptcy from medical bills and not being able to work. That last reason never gets mentioned. I suppose you want studies that prove that?
Sometimes we need to stop for a moment and look at what we eat as fuel for our bodies.
The truth is that CPAP has a lot of problems in it's own right is very important to impress upon people just discovering or highly suspecting that they may have a sleep breathing disorder. The standard advice is go to a doctor and get a CPAP. My advice went out to someone (not yourself) who doesn't have insurance and is reluctant to sleep anywhere but in their own bed. The advice was that changing diet and exercising can improve sleep disturbances and it is important to try.
Yeah, I have a story to tell. Pull your chair an inch closer to your monitor and read. Whether you consider yourself skinny or fat is no issue to me. You are probably eating the same things you've always eaten. Suffering from the same problems.
Come to an internet forum and ask for advice on sleep disordered breathing because you can't breathe and I'll likely chime in since I have the issue in my life. I've changed what I eat in the last 1 and 1/2 years and am telling people about the risks of eating the typical American diet and not exercising. Eating a better diet and exercising will reduce AHI. You will only experience this if you try for a period of 90 days or so. Making changes for only a week or so won't help.
I'm not selling a book or promoting a website about this. I'm not promoting a brand of rice and beans to eat. And, won't act as your librarian and do a lot of running to help you find basic stuff that ALL beans are nutritional powerhouses. You've got the internet on your own. I've got my work to pay my bills and there is only so much time in the day.
I can only point out a few things. A great deal of the American diet depends on cows and cow products. Wheat and wheat flour products are over eaten as well. Man genetically manipulates the cow to a great extent. Many breads of dairy cow can not directly nurse their offspring with their milk because we've messed around and created a butter fat content that is too high for the calves to drink.
Of course we drink it and consume it because it's healthy for us, right? Maybe wrong.
Beef. Where do I even start with the troubles of this meat? I've come to my own understanding that this is not something you'd want to eat if there are strange things going on with your body functions. Isn't it a bit strange that persons with sleep breating disorders breathe just fine during the day?
How much money goes into my pocket if a person tries a diet rid of beef, dairy, and wheat products for 90 days? Nothing. I'm a relatively poor single guy technician in a northern state with no investments in food production.
But I read and observe and have my opinions. I wish only that this string of messages gets some attention, as it should.
