A CPAP with its humidifier seems to help a cold, and help you sleep. As Bird Watcher said, the air forced through your nose will help keep your breathing clear (enough). Combine the CPAP with an antihistimine at night. You can even try a spray mist like Afrin (but not too much, or too often)and that will keep your nose open. A trick: when the CPAP is fully ramped up, open your mouth and let the air blow through for 15 or 20 seconds, and that will clear some congestion. Since I've been on a CPAP (2 years) I have not had a bad cold or sinus infection. A CPAP seems to discourage colds. Allergies on the other hand ........
