Your feelings remind me of the inventors of insulin, Banting and Best. They could have made billions, but sold the patent for one dollar to a university so that people would not have to pay any royalty for insulin. Some people are bigger than money. Anyways, I doubt Sullivan is out there for the money. If he was, he wouldn't be working in a university.

The thing with CPAP is that the technology is advancing fast, and requires lots of research and development costs. If you think about the progression of CPAP, Sullivan started only twenty years ago, literally with something like home vacuum cleaner. Just look at the latest APAP, the Resmed Vantage in stark contrast - auto titration, comfortable mask, humidification, two modes of operation, Exhaling Relief pressure, etc.... That is what you get for fifteen hundred bucks, I guess.
