Your theories are interesting and probably possible. As you've probably read in recent postings, I experience the "Dawn Effect" with blood sugar levels, but I don't experience any particular stress during the night, that I'm aware of. I do often wake up around 3a.m. and have trouble falling back to sleep. I was told that having a bedtime snack (about 15 carbs, mixed with some protein) should help the mid-night sugar lows, as well as the high morning levels, but the snack seems to have no effect on me -- however, I still have the snack because I like it!
