For thousands of years, medicine have studied patients who were awake and cadavers. It is is only within the last sixty that anybody paid attention to patients who are asleep.

Furthermore, sleep tests are very expensive, so insurance companies would rather not promote them.

The number of people who are diagnosed with SA is gradually (but steadily) growing. Eventually, it will hit critical mass.
