Posted by sleepyhead on January 04, 2008 at 11:29:38:Hello, Just a little about myself. When I was 9 I broke my nose pretty bad playing sports. Dr told my Mom he could rebreak it and make it straight. She told him no. 25 years later my girlfriend tells me my snoring is unreal and I should get it checked out. I do and find out I have sleep apnea. Put on CPAP and dr says I have deviated septum that may give me some problems later on. Fast forward to Sept 2007 I get a sinus infection, usally get a few every year. This time it doesn't go away with 2 courses of antibiotics. Dr sends me for a CT scan says my septum is pretty rough looking and I should go to an ENT dr. I go and he says he can help with medicines and sprays or we can have the surgery done. I didn't want to mess with it and went for the surgery, also thinking it may help my sleep apena. I had my septoplasty 3 weeks ago yesterday. The first week was pretty rough. I had splints in my nostrils and had to breathe out of my mouth. Had to sleep in a recliner and would wake with chapped lips and wrinkled tongue. Pain was moderate but Dr prescribed Percocet and that made me feel good! Feeling better a week later so went to visit inlaws for Christmas then started feeling really bad. Went to walk in clinic and Dr prescribed antibiotics, I think I caught the flu. Feeling better now but do have a concern about something. I'm using Neil Meds sinus flush and love it. I have been seeing large chunks coming out of my nose. They are like giant boogers and are black and very hard. I'm wondering if they are blood clots or dissolvable packing or something else. I pulled one out this morning that looked like a small bait fish with a string attached to it or maybe it was hair. I have slight pain after I have taken it out but feel like I can breath a whole lot better. Has anyone else experienced this?
