I think you should talk to the sleep doc who prescribed your first CPAP. Tell him 10cm is making you feel better with the machine you have and you would like to purchase a backup machine for travel set at 10cm. You shouldn't need another sleep study to purchase a backup machine.

Most sleep docs are busy and he may give you a script for 10cm without a visit.

I doubt that you can change a normal CPAP machines pressure without doing something considered illegal.

So give your sleep doc a call, some are very understanding and helpful and I wouldn't think a new script of 10 cm would be a problem.

Remember, this is my opinion and I'm not a sleep doc.

Best wishes,
Sandman
