Posted by JoshM23 on January 29, 2008 at 06:33:49:Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I have been searching unsuccessfuly over the past few days for an answer to my problem, but it seems that there is not much info out there. I have browsed these forums, and I think I found one post that pertains to my situation. Speaking of which...
I'm 23 years old, in generally good health, but admittedly overweight -- I could lose 25 pounds and be at my ideal weight. My wife has been noticing some things that I do when I sleep. Apparently, I make a "clicking noise" with my tongue against the roof of my mouth. She says this lasts a few minutes, then I resume snoring. I've always been a snorer -- since I was a kid. This doesn't affect my sleep at all -- in fact, I get 6-8 hours of continuous sleep every night.
In addition to the clicking, she says that starting about a week ago, I sometimes shake my arm, leg, or body -- almost like a vibration. She said that when she nudges me or kicks me, I stop. Now, keep in mind that I have no problems when I'm awake. I've never had any nerve or brain problems. What could be causing this to happen, only when I'm sleeping? Like I said, it has only started happening in the past 1-2 weeks.
I do remember that there have been isolated times (maybe 3 separate occasions) when I quickly wake up as if I'm about to vomit or something. I don't think I'm gasping for air. Rather, it feels like I have acid or heartburn -- which is a separate issue altogether. Could it be related? It hasn't happened for at least 3 weeks.
During the day, I would say that I wish I had more energy. I don't feel extremely tired, but I do feel sluggish at times. I feel about the same now as I did in college, or even before. However, I am slightly more irritable and in a bad mood lately -- but this is probably caused by the large amount of stress that I bring upon myself.
I know this is a long post, so thanks for taking the time to read it. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know.
