This is a good question. Why not write Resmed and Respironics. Please ask them. I hope that you will share the response. Another source would be the FDA or Health Canada. They have scientists who are charged with the responsibility of consumer safety, and who respond to inquiries.

One important point though. We must bear in mind that the risk from pthalaes is theoretical. The risk from not treating OSA is certain. I hope nobody will discontinue using CPAP.
