I have noticed the same thing. I had the S7, and then changed to the S8 Vantage. I attached the cords of both machines to a power bar and used two masks. I breathed into both when they were side by side, and I noticed that the S8 is indeed louder. You sacrifice some degree of quietness for the much smaller size and ease of travel that the S8 provides. Nevertheless, it is not that much louder.

This past November, I have gotten the operation called MMA (jaw advancement surgery). I no longer need my CPAP machine.
