The weird dreams bit is a good sign. It indicates a "REM rebound". OSA often hinders people from getting REM sleep. When people get treated, the body has been deprived of REM sleep, so it spends an unusually long period of time "getting caught up". If it will put your mind to rest, please read "The Promise of Sleep", by William C. Dement. In that book, you will be able to read up on REM rebound. You can get it for free at yoru local public library.

About CPAP, don't worry. The first time you get it, you go through an adjustment period. It will take time to adjust. Keep with it. You will get used to it.
