sleep study results

Posted by argenys on February 13, 2008 at 19:14:03:

Hi....i am trying to find some help from anyone who can offer it.....i had a sleep test done because i suffer from insomnia i just cannot fall asleep, so i went in for a study, and the results apart from suggesting sever insomnia (took 3 hours to fall asleep) it also suggested mild sleep apnea.......the doctor told me that my AHI was 18.1, so was my RDI........she said that is considered mild (this is in canada), and that it was of no concern to her, but that the insomnia was, but after reading about sleep apnea it turns out an AHI of 18.1 is moderate, not mild....anyways, i requested the results......and it sais i had NO apnea, only hypopneas, my corticol arousal was 10.9/hr.........my SAO2 at its lowest was 91% for only 32 mintues, the rest of the time it was above 95%, my average heart rate was 51 in nonREM sleep and 52 in REM.........i am not soo much concerned about the lack of sleep that sleep apnea causes but of the heart and stroke risk factor.......with these results do you believe i am at risk?....the doctor said i didnt need to treat it.....but it was soemthing to keep in mind......incase of surgery or soemthing.........but i don't know what to think......she wants to treat the insomnia first...what do you guys think?
