International Travel with CPAP

Posted by Mundo on March 03, 2008 at 07:26:53:

Hello,

I'm writing from Seattle, WA. I have traveled in the U.S. with my CPAP sucessfully, taking it on board rather than in check-in luggage. However, I will be traveling to Ethiopia & Egypt, in mid-June, and I anticipate problems. Our route will take us to the U.K., with a stopover of a couple of days, then on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We'll spend several days in Ethiopia and then fly to Cairo, Egypt, for several more days before heading back to the states. I'm concerned about traveling with my CPAP unit. The Ethiopia travel regulations state that all electronic devices must be declared upon entry, and I believe the same is true for Egypt. I'm looking for advice anyone who has traveled in these locales might want to share. Additionally, are there electronic converters for CPAP units which allow them to run on the different current in these countries? Any problems finding distilled water in either country?

Thank you,
Cliff
