I think you have every reason to be concerned about using the CPAP again. As Sandman says, you are entitled to a copy of your sleep study, the summmary and your prescription and I would certainly get those, for starters.

A pressure of 18 is high; even so, your reaction was extreme. I find it amazing that anyone would say, "Just try it," in response to your concerns about a wrong prescription. I've read many posts on here wherein people say they do better on a bipap machine when the pressure gets up in the higher ranges. I, myself, have an auto-adjusting PAP and I love it.

I'm pretty sure plain saline sprays can be used much more frequently than once a day and might promote better healing. Don't worry about upsetting anyone's tender psyches; it's your body and your health and you really deserve better answers than you've received. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.
