Recomendations for replacement APAP

Posted by BeardedMan on March 17, 2008 at 19:19:18:

Hello all.

I've an interesting situation. I've been using an AutoAdjust/LT APAP for the last 5 or 6 years. I've been thinking about getting a new machine lately and, because of some odd noises from my machine recently, what to get has become a more pressing matter.

I've been dismayed with the seeming trend of XPAP vendors restricting the availability of software to end-users (us). So, mainly because of that, I thought I'd ask here to see what you guys could tell me about the latest and greatest APAPs.

I've had no problem with my AutoAdjust/LT and am happy with it and would probably get the new 8054D machine if I could get the software to go with it (BTW, does anyone know if the software from the AA/LT would work with the 8054? I know I'd need different cables, but haven't found anything on the other -- any hints or links or whatever would be appreciated). To top it off, my insurance has limited DME support for respiratory equipment and the only place I can order it from is Apria and they would rather ONLY deal with Resporonics equipment. They say they can order it, but say it will take 4-6 weeks to get it, which seems excessive.

Anyway, any recommendations on what machine I should be looking at? To have software to track my progress would be ideal, but that may not be an option. I've looked at the REMstar Auto M series and they look interesting, so feedback on them would be appreciated as well.

Thanks a lot and sleep well!
Mike
