Dry flaky skin under mask?

I just got my CPAP today and took a 1 hour nap with it. I suddenly have dry flaky skin where the nasal mask was touching my face... it appears that the mask is latex-free, so I don't think it's that.

Is this normal? Any suggestions for how to prevent this?
