Yes, it is possible to have a night with little activity and then another night showing apneas. The fact that you feel you've "gone stupid" could be an indicator of insufficient sleep. So I would go for another sleep study. Perhaps your doctor can prescribe a couple Ambien to help you fall asleep. Many doctors will do that. Also. request a heated humidifier when you go in for your sleep study.
