Info for international travel

Posted by OSA Sufferer on April 21, 2008 at 04:34:16:

I will be travelling on Singapore Airlines (SIA) in June 2008 from Singapore to Los Angeles and the airlines has come back with a series of questions regarding my intended use of the Respironics M Series Auto with A flex machine onboard the flight. I can answer many of them but there are a couple that I couldn't find any answers in the user manual. I've written to Respironics but haven't heard from them yet. Can anyone help here?

From SIA:

"Kindly advice the following checklist for usage of your CPAP machine that is not listed in our approval list for us to forward to the relevant department:

Name/Flight No/Date & Routing:

Is the M-PED (Medical Portable Electronic Device) machine self powered (using gel or battery)? YES / NO

Can the M-PED Machine be used with 110 Volt AC/60 Hz power supply? YES / NO

Is the M-PED machine an intentional transmitter (e.g. using remote control)? YES / NO

Is the M-PED machine certified by FAA/UK CAA or other aviation authority to comply with RTCA (Radio Transmission Commission for Aeronautics)? YES / NO - If yes, please attach documentation.

Can you accept that the equipment NOT be used during take-off and landing i.e. only be used during cruise phase?

Please state the dimensions (cm) and weight (kg) of M-PED machine?

Technical specifications of the M-PED machine attached? YES / NO

Additional Information:"

Where can I find answers to the one on RTCA? What kind of documentation is normally required? Does anyone know?

Thanks!
Chris
