Not sure what's wrong

Posted by Rach99 on May 15, 2008 at 09:30:04:

Hi

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct forum or not.
Recently (the last few weeks) I've had difficulty falling asleep properly because I seem to stop breathing.

It happens when I'm semi-conscious, just as I start drifting off into a dream. I feel like my breathing stops and for a few seconds I feel dizzy, in fact it sends a rapid strange feeling through my entire body then I take a sudden deep breath which wakes me, I open my eyes for a few seconds then start drifting off to sleep again and it starts again.

This happens lots of times before I eventually get to sleep properly.

It doesn't happen every night but has been getting more frequent over the last few weeks.

I read that people with sleep apnea don't usually remember it happening but I do remember it happening.

Does anyone else experience this sort of thing? or have any idea what it might be?
