Everyone who would get a diagnosis like you did and get a CPAP machine needs to get first instructions and guidance face to face from a equipment specialist about operating the machine, and maybe also, some good tips and tricks to making it work. If you have specific problems, come back and ask them here. Someone will have likely had the same problem. Be sure they give you a model with a heated humidifier. You may not find you need the heat right away, but at some point you'll need it.

Never lose sight of the big picture. You don't necessarily have "severe obstructive sleep apnea". You have severe 'too much effort to breathe during nightly sleep syndrome'. If you think of it in that mindset, you will start to address the underlying factors going forward. If you are overweight, that will have to be helped, or if you are ideal weight, you may need to look to a surgeon to explain what some of the options are for your condition. Worst possible thing you can do is ignore how you got to this point.
