Full face mask and TMJ

Posted by milz45 on June 04, 2008 at 16:37:55:

Hello,
I use a mirage full face mask and a chin strap. I also wear hard acrlyc mouthpieces on my teeth for TMJ. The Mirage works well for me, controling mouth-breathing. However, the mask tends to push my lower jaw back, severly agrivating my TMJ in the morning/next day. Have any of you experienced this? Know a fix? I tried using rubber bands that attach to my TMJ pieces which are meant to help keep the lower jaw from dropping back, but they KILL my teeth. I end up ripping them out 15min into the night. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
