My insurance pays for a new if the old cannot be repaired, or cannot be repaired for less than the price if a new one. My old CPAP (5 years old at the time) was “not supported” by the manufacturer meaning that nobody was “authorized” to repair it. Thus, they paid for a new one. It does not appear that they would have paid for the repair or for a temporary while the repair was taking place.
