Just be aware that luggage handlers act just like those gorrilas in the old Samsonite TV commercials. Jumping up and down on your suitcase. I checked my bag with my CPAP a couple of times and the last time i did my bag must have been treated very harshly. Even though I padded it with bubble wrap the electrical plug, the side that is hard wired into the machine was broken off. I was all the way across the country fighting a 3 hour time change with a meeting first thing in the morning and no CPAP all week. I have never checked it again. I understand your discomfort with having to carry your bag. I have to carry a laptop and my CPAP as my 2 carry ons but I'd rather have the discomfort than no CPAP.
